Romeri, John A.

Dr. John A. Romeri is the Director of Liturgical Music for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, which includes the position of Director of Music and Organist at the Cathedral Basilica of SS Peter and Paul. He presently conducts the Cathedral Choir, The Archdiocesan Choir of Philadelphia and the Archdiocesan Girls' Choir. He is the Executive and Artistic Director for "Concerts at the Cathedral Basilica".

Dr. Romeri has a Bachelor of Music in Organ Performance Magna cum Laude, from the Conservatory of Music, University of Pacific in Stockton, California and a Master of Sacred Music from Westminster Choir College, Princeton, New Jersey. He holds the Choirmaster and Associate Certificates from the American Guild of Organists. In 1998, he was presented an Honorary Doctorate in Humane Letters from Lindenwood University, St. Louis, Missouri. He has earned the Choir Master (ChM) and Associate (AAGO) from the American Guild of Organists.

A frequent choral clinician, Dr. Romeri has conducted Choral Festivals in cities throughout the United States, and his choirs have toured Europe, French Canada and the United States. He was the past chair of the NPM National Board of Directors and is the past Dean of the St. Louis Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. The National Association of Pastoral Musicians has named him the "Pastoral Musician of the Year" for 2003. Dr. Romeri was voted the "Outstanding Choir Director for 1998-1999" by the Missouri Choral Directors Association.

Dr. Romeri serves on the Liturgy Committee for the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. and the Denominations Relations and Seminary Relations Committee of the National American Guild of Organists. He also serves as the Vice-President of the National Board of Directors for the American division International Children's Choir Organization, Pueri Cantores.
