Duane Funderburk (b. 1954) holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in piano performance and music education from Seattle Pacific University and Boston University, and a doctorate in collaborative piano from the University of Southern California. He has spent many years performing both in the United States and abroad with various chamber musicians, including members of the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra and the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra in Yerevan, Armenia. From 1999 to 2009 Duane served as Dean of the School of Music at Azusa Pacific University.

Duane has been involved with church music his entire life and has written many instrumental works based on hymn tunes for use in the church service. These original arrangements were written specifically for professional musicians with whom he has collaborated over the years. His chamber music, orchestral and choral arrangements, which have been published by Morningstar Music represent works that have been performed in church settings, schools and concert halls around the world.

Currently Duane serves as Co-Director of Worship and the Arts at Lake Avenue Church in Pasadena, California, conducting and composing for a 100-voice choir and 35-member chamber symphony, many of whom are professional musicians in the Los Angeles area. He is also director of the church’s annual concert series and an active performer and founding member of the Los Angeles Collaboration, a trio for piano, violin and cello which performs a wide range of repertoire, including some of his original arrangements.
