Originally published 1958. Based on simple, charming Bavarian folk tune (unnamed) and German chorale "From Heaven Above" (VOM HIMMEL HOCH). Four stanza arrangement. Traditionally sung in Bavarian churches every Christmas Eve with adults singing 8 measure folk tune/text and children responding with 8 measure chorale.
