McNair, William

William McNair is organist and director of handbell choirs at Shandon Presbyterian Church in Columbia, SC where he has served since 2001. In addition to his duties as organist at Shandon, McNair conducts 4 handbell choirs, accompanies 5 children and youth choirs, and accompanies the adult chancel choir.

McNair has performed in recitals around the southeast, playing not only organ solo recitals, but harpsichord and piano in solo and chamber music literature. He served as the youth choir and youth chamber choir accompanist at the Presbyterian Association of Musicians annual Montreat Worship and Music Conference for 2010. He served on the 2012 planning team for the same conference and as the co-director with his wife, Anne, for the 2013 conference.

McNair has a Master of Music degree in Organ Performance from the University of South Carolina, a MM in music theory from Georgia State University, and a BM in piano performance from St. Andrews Presbyterian College.

He has served other congregations in Atlanta and Columbia as an organist and choir director. He is an arranger/composer with several published compositions.
