Biography

Karissa Dennis graduated from Bemidji State University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music, specifically Composition, Piano Performance and Pedagogy, and Organ Performance. While in college, she taught piano, organ, and composition lessons at the Headwaters School of Music and the Arts.

Since 2004, Karissa has been a full-time Director of Worship and Music in ELCA churches. In her current congregation of over 2,500 members, she oversees vocal and handbell choirs, praise bands and instrumental ensembles. Leading traditional and contemporary music for worship services, weddings and funerals is a part of her ministry.

Karissa has a passion for composing music. She has several handbell pieces published through Lorenz, Jeffers, Ringing Word, MorningStar Music Publishers, and Hope (Agape). She has a choral anthem in print through Shawnee Press.

Karissa feels blessed to live out her calling every day. She resides in Minnesota, near the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. She enjoys spending time with her husband Ryan and two children, Aleya and Parker.
