David Schelat

David Schelat (b. 1955, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) is Minister of Music at First & Central Presbyterian Church in Wilmington, Delaware. He received his Bachelor of Music degree cum laude from the Ohio State University, where he studied organ and church music with Wilbur Held (and was his assistant at Trinity Church), and his Master of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music, as a student of David Craighead. Choral conducting teachers include Dennis Keene, Joseph Flummerfelt, Peter Bagley, and John Alexander. As an organist, he has been heard in recital throughout the eastern United States, and has led hymn festivals for national and regional conferences of the Hymn Society in the United States and Canada, the American Guild of Organists, and the National Association of Pastoral Musicians.

Mr. Schelat is a member of the American Guild of Organists, Presbyterian Association of Musicians, Hymn Society in the United States and Canada, Chorus America, and American Choral Directors Association, and has served for six years on the Delaware State Arts Council.

His publications include anthems, descants, organ music, reviews, and articles for a variety of publishers and journals.
