Chuck Marohnic

Chuck Marohnic has enjoyed a multi-faceted career. Starting four decades ago as a jazz pianist, he is a respected musician, educator, author, composer, and arranger. He is the author of numerous books and has recorded over 35 CDs. He has recorded with such jazz greats as Chet Baker, Joe Henderson, David Friesen, and Jamey Aebersold. He also served as music minister at The Fountains, a United Methodist Church in Fountain Hills, AZ, for three years and was also music minister for Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Scottsdale, AZ.

Chuck Marohnic has served as a visiting clinician and performer at festivals in Germany, Brazil, and France. For five years he acted as Coordinator of Jazz Studies and a guest artist at the Fairbanks summer Arts Festival in Fairbanks, Alaska. In May of 1998, Chuck visited Brazil for a second time where he performed concerts and presented clinics for a week’s residency. While in Brazil he recorded an instructional video for MPO entitled "The Creation of a Solo Jazz Piano Arrangement." Chuck was also invited to perform the Concerto with the Bulgarian National Youth Symphony Orchestra for a European tour.

Since retiring from his position as Director of Jazz Studies at Arizona State University, Chuck Marohnic has been devoting his time developing his ministry, Sanctuary Jazz. He is also Director of Education and Workshops for Music Serving the Word Ministries.

Chuck continues to write jazz piano arrangements of familiar church hymns and worship and praise songs, as well as create new choral arrangements that utilize jazz accompaniment taking them from inside church walls to the entire community.

He is in demand as a guest performer at churches and church conferences throughout the US. He currently resides in Louisville, KY with his wife, Mary Ann. He can be contacted at www.sanctuaryjazz.com.
