Ralph Manuel is a native of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He holds music degrees from Oklahoma City University, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, and B. H. Carroll Theological Institute in Arlington, Texas. From 1975 to 1979 he was on the music faculty at Southern Baptist College (now Williams Baptist College) in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. He was a missionary to Brazil with the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention from 1979 to 2004. While in Brazil, he served as a music professor at the North Brazil Baptist Theological Seminary in Recife, teaching piano, music theory, and composition. In February of 2004, Ralph assumed the ministry of music at Heritage Baptist Church in Annapolis, Maryland, where he currently serves. He was ordained by Heritage in July 2004. Ralph and his wife Donna have two grown children, James and Melissa, and one daughter-in-law, Marisa (James's wife).
Ralph served on the hymnal committee for Hinário Para o Culto Cristão (Hymnal for Christian Worship), for Brazilian Baptists, released in 1991, and on the Supplemental Music Resources Committee for the Celebrating Grace Hymnal (Macon, Georgia), released in 2010.
