Daniel Kallman

Composer Daniel Kallman maintains a large and varied catalogue of works for orchestra, chorus, chamber ensemble, and the young musician. He has written for the National Symphony Orchestra, the Minnesota Orchestra, and the Plymouth Music Series and has received performances by professional, regional and community ensembles throughout the country and abroad. Kallman has been awarded grants by the McKnight and Jerome Foundations and the American Composers Forum. He has worked on concert and recording projects with Philip Brunelle and Garrison Keillor and has been commissioned to create music for events such as the International Special Olympics and the Pax Christi Award Ceremony.

As a composer of worship music, Kallman is best known for his setting of the Lutheran liturgy, "Light of Christ", which is featured in the hymnal With One Voice. He has written and arranged numerous hymns, antiphons, and church choir anthems. His arrangements of well-known hymns have been enthusiastically received in both worship and concert settings.

Kallman's compositions are published by Kallman Creates Publications and are catalogued on his web site at http://www.kallmancreates.com. Many of his compositions are also available at MMB Music (orchestral), MorningStar Music (SATB choral), Shawnee Press (children's choir), Boosey & Hawkes, G. Schirmer, Concordia, Augsburg Fortress, Kjos Music, and TRN Music. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, and a Master's degree in Music Theory and Composition from the University of Minnesota, where his principal teachers were Paul Fetler and Dominick Argento.
