Neil
Harmon
Dr. Neil Harmon is Director of Music
and Organist at Grace United Methodist Church in Wilmington,
Delaware where
he directs a distinguished music program including a semi-professional
choir and two bell choirs. A graduate (MM, DMA) of the Eastman
School of Music in Rochester, New York, Dr. Harmon worked as
a teaching assistant at the Eastman School and served on the
faculty of Eastman’s Community Education Division.
A native of Midvale, Utah, Dr. Harmon earned his undergraduate
degree from Brigham Young University, where he was assistant
director of the renowned BYU Men’s Chorus, teacher of the
Group Organ Class, and organist for the Utah Baroque Ensemble.
Since 1991, Dr. Harmon has served as Guest Organist at the Salt
Lake Mormon Tabernacle where he presents half hour recitals on
the famous Aeolian-Skinner organ.
Dr. Harmon’s compositions include works for solo organ,
mixed choir, and bell choir, and are published by the Lorenz
Company, Paraclete Press, and MorningStar Music Publishers. He
served two terms as Dean of the Delaware Chapter of the American
Guild of Organists (AGO), and as the Worship & Music Chair
of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), Delaware
Chapter.
Dr. Harmon served a two-year (1987-1989) volunteer mission in
Sao Paulo, Brazil for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints. He currently resides in Wilmington, Delaware with his
wife, Anese, their four boys, and one daughter.
